Dr. Susan L. West Ph.D.
Dr. West is a three time presidential fellow whose career is replete with awards and accolades. Having earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Auburn University in 2003, Dr. Susan West moved to Charleston, South Carolina to embark on her professional career.
Dr. West’s counseling and clinical training have been extensive. She has worked with patients in various settings including college counseling centers, outpatient and inpatient mental health clinics, hospitals, and private practices. Yet the work that Dr. West is most drawn to time and time again is providing support to persons facing challenging life events.
Dr. West worked as a clinical psychologist from 2004-2012. She founded and ran Daniel Island Psychological Associates, (DIPA-LLC) a private practice that provided comprehensive psychological services to children, adolescents and adults. Dr. West provided multidisciplinary psychological care that included individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and consultation with multi-disciplinary professionals, as well as education/outreach programming.
Dr. West is providing private coaching and consulting services to adults, teens and families. She helps clients dealing with life’s challenging events such as parenting, relationships, divorce, and health issues ranging from serious illness to bereavement. She teaches clients coping skills to equip and empower them with the tools to become their own advocate. The goal is to THRIVE not just survive in life.
